Home / About Us

The Jordaan family has been hunting in South Africa's Eastern Cape for five generations. Over the years, the family became proprietors of the area's most exclusive and beautiful game-rich properties. In 1986, Tollie and Karen Jordaan turned their family's passion into the family's business. Tollie's African Safaris offers an entirely unique hunting and wildlife experience in an unspoiled, malaria-free area. Tollie specializes in FAMILY SAFARIS and FAIR CHASE HUNTING for 30 different species.

The Hunting

The wildlife is continually monitored to ensure that the quality and quantity will be maintained at the highest standard for hunters. The bulk of the hunting is done on Tollie's own ranches that total in excess of 60 000 acres. Hunters also have special acess to other nearby ranches (in excess of 120 000 acres) to ensure the best quality trophies. The hunting area is well suited for Impala, Springbuck, Blesbuck, Zebra, Bushbuck, Duiker, Steenbuck, Kudu, Eland, Buffalo, Sable and most particularly Nyala – in fact it’s a Nyala paradise. Hunters can use a bow, rifle or muzzleloader and can be confident that they'll have the opportunity to hunt only mature trophy class animals. Tollie's goal is to provide each of his hunters their most memorable hunting experience.

The Service

The quality of service offered by Tollie, Karen, the professional hunters and staff are outstanding. Attention to detail and personal service is the number one priority. The commitment to service and professionalism is second to none. The caping and trophy handling skills, amongst others, are excellent.

Philosophy & Appreciation

Hunting has been a way of life for the Jordaan family for generations. Tollie’s father taught him to hunt when he was very young, and instilled in Tollie a great appreciation for the game and the land. Tollie's outlook on life has been influenced to a great extent by the surroundings in which he lives. He believes that life is what you make of it and that it's important to take advantage of God's blessings. He belives that God put him on his ranch for a reason—to carry on the true values of his family’s heritage, to raise a wonderful family and to wake up every morning to thank God for the wonder and beauty he sees every day. Tollie loves his job! He loves to be in the great outdoors, sharing his spectacular land and animals with others. Tollie always says that the best thing about his work is meeting wonderful people from around the world and building friendships with the people that visit his ranches. Tollie runs his business with his beautiful wife Karen, and he has three wonderful children.

Ethics & Conservation

Tollie and his staff have an extremely high regard for the ethics of hunting, and they take the management of their ranches very seriously. A special emphasis is placed on conservation and the balance of their pristine ecosystem.

Non-Hunting Activities

Non-hunters are welcomed and can also expect a most memorable experience. Non-hunting activities include hiking, game viewing, horse riding, trout fishing, day excursions to nearby historic towns and world-renowned game parks. Relax and enjoy a massage, sauna or Jacuzzi at Tollie's Wellness & Hydro SPA.

“Life is short, and we never know the longevity. We all have the desire in our hearts to dream, and I say to you: Where there is a heart, there is a dream. And where there is a dream, there is no fear.” Thank you for giving me the time to tell you about me and my family, this beautiful country, and what I can offer to make your trip a remarkable one. From my world to yours, have a good day and keep smiling.
